Construction Mistake In China

Errors made by the officials in China have forced a new highway cut into half after they accidentally approved the construction of an apartment building that has been proposed in a road construction before realizing it cost too high for transferring the tenants.

Construction workers had to ' cut ' eight- lane highway to four lanes and leave many angry people stuck in the middle of a busy road .

Tenants residing in the building have just moved from their previous homes to make way for the construction of a park and refused to move again unless they receive compensation .

Thus, the local city council decided to save costs by leaving the apartment building in its place .

A resident , Shing Su living in blocks in Xi'an , Shaanxi province in western China , said : " We all used to live in other areas where they had planned to build a National Heritage Park Daming and they promised to give us a new placement , modern apartment blocks , so we ended up here . "

"We have been here for a few months when they find out that they accidentally built an excessive building block that should be the site for the new highway . "

The council then commenced negotiations with the tenants , but with the condition of a new , modern home , they want even more compensation. After several months of failed negotiations , the council gave up and finally build the highways around the building.

However, the road built was just a waste of time and money because it has failed to solve the problem of the heavy traffic congestion.

Mr Shing added: "I'm are not comfortable living in a situation where we are stuck in the middle of a highway that is 60 meters wide , but over time, I'm getting used to it. "

" If they make a better offer , most of the residents will move out , but it is difficult because we had just moved here and then we are told to move out. "
